Yamaha FG-12-800 12-String Acoustic Natural 1974

Yamaha FG-12-800, made in Japan 1974 approx. This is a cool thing. The body shape is more like a jumbo than a dreadnought, so it has a cool rounded bout at the back. The solid spruce top has weathered the years of high tension pretty nicely and is in good shape, there's a very minor split behind the bridge but it's all working well. The sound is huge: big shimmering highs, gregarious airy mids, chiming clarity. The neck is an agreeable shape with reasonable string spacing, so it's fairly straightforward to play. This is a nice vintage twelve, it's got some charm for sure.

Model: Yamaha FG-12-800
Made: Japan, 1974 approx
Serial: 11004
Finish: natural, gloss poly
Body: jumbo size, solid spruce top, laminate rosewood back and sides
Neck: mahogany, rosewood board,  25" scale, 48mm nut
Weight: 2.410kg
Mods: none

Accessories: basic hard case

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has some scuffs on the end and back. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, there's some dents and scuffs on the back and a little scuff on the top side halfway along. The back has some scuffs in the middle of the body, near the back edge and in the bottom corner, as well as some dimples on both horns and the elbow area. The sides have minor scuffs around the whole body, no major marks. The front has a fade mark on the bottom corner, dimples along the back edge, elbow area, top shoulder and around the bridge, as well as play wear on the guard and around the soundhole and a sticker mark on the guard. There's a hairline split around 5cm long near the back edge in the top, which appears to be stable.
Overall: good condition (6/10)

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good. Setup with fresh light gauge John Pearse strings.
Fret Life: 7/10, minor wear only
