Brookfield Tube Audio Pistachio Special 18w 1x12" Guitar Amp Combo
Brookfield is the creation of Hobart amp wizard and audio engineer Reuben Hopkins. Mr Hopkins' standard method is to handmake beautiful amplifiers to order, inspired by the classic creations of 1955-75 but updated with some clever modern functionality and robust road-ready hardware. This model is part of a little run built specially for Topshelf, using some pre-fabricated amp chassis and an honest little transformer set that allows for a price tag at around half the usual sum for a Brookfield. The cabinet is handmade in Hobart from top-tier birch ply, and the amp circuitry itself is fully point-to-point handwired on a custom cut turret board, so this is built the old fashioned way with a lot of love and care. You get two channels: a basic clean with controls for gain and tone, and a Plexi-voiced gain channel with a gain, master and three band EQ. The clean is loud and natural, with heaps of punch through the lows and a nice sparkle on top. The dirty channel is ultra-luxe: warm and full, heaps of complexity through the mids, a balanced harmonics with plenty of colour on the top end and a fat, juicy low end. It's perfect for Jimi-esque tones, it really nails that. Now, the other fun trick on deck: you can stack the channels via the included footswitch, so if you dime the clean channel gain and send it into the dirty channel, you can get JCM800 style nasty growling mid-high gain creamy sizzle. The oxblood grill, white piping and seafoam tolex look spectacular too, it's a very pretty thing. Thanks Reuben, what a nutty little delight.
